Appearance
Marnak Ketzik is a young dwarf woman with a stocky, powerfully muscled body built on proportions closer to a broad-shouldered human than the compact shape many expect from her people. She stands straight-backed and alert, with long forearms, a narrow waist, and hands marked by fine black soot that no scrubbing quite removes. Her face is distinctly human in its planes, with a long nose, high cheekbones, and a quick, mobile mouth, yet her heavy brow and square jaw give her an unmistakably dwarven gravity. Her dark auburn hair is braided into four thick ropes, each tied with a different copper washer salvaged from broken tools. A strip of pale blue cloth is always tucked behind her left ear, absurdly clean compared with the rest of her work-stained appearance. She moves with deliberate economy, never wasting a step, but when surprised she reacts with startling speed, snapping around like a sprung trap. The first impression she leaves is of a young laborer trying very hard to appear unshakeable, while the second is of someone who has already measured every doorway, weapon, and possible escape route in the room.
“Her voice is low, clipped, and slightly rasped by years of smoke. She speaks quickly when discussing repairs or danger, but slows down for promises.”

Distinguishing Features
Four heavy auburn braids tied with mismatched copper washers.
A perpetually clean strip of pale blue cloth tucked behind her left ear.
Black forge soot embedded in the creases of her palms and around her fingernails.
A yellow-darned left knee and a belt polished far beyond the condition of its leather.
She carries herself with upright, almost humanlike proportions and the careful stillness of someone always listening to stone.
Voice
“A low, smoky contralto with a dry edge, like iron dragged across a whetstone. She rarely raises it, which makes the rare sharp command land with surprising force.”
Clothing
She wears a patched charcoal work shirt beneath a sleeveless rust-red brigandine vest, reinforced work trousers, thick leather boots, and a short gray traveling cloak. Her clothing is carefully repaired rather than replaced. The left knee of her trousers has been darned with bright yellow thread, while her belt is polished obsessively despite its cracked leather. Her warhammer hangs low at her right hip, and a small blue cloth remains tucked behind her left ear.
Body Language
She stands with her feet planted wide and her shoulders squared, often resting one thumb against the copper ring on her belt. When listening, she tilts her head slightly as if judging the soundness of a wall. Her hands are restless around damaged tools, but become utterly still when someone mentions Petka.
