Species

Void Spider

Appearance

Arachon is a towering, unnervingly narrow insectoid figure whose true body rises nearly eight feet from the ground. Four long, jointed legs support him when he wishes to move quickly, while two smaller arms remain folded beneath his cloak like a gentleman concealing a cane. His torso is covered in overlapping plates that resemble polished beetle shell, but the texture is softer around the throat and wrists, almost like damp velvet. His emerald eyes are not arranged in a spider's cluster. Instead, two large eyes sit forward like a man's, while six smaller eyes open and close along his temples whenever he becomes interested. He moves with exquisite restraint, never wasting a gesture, though his shadow often twitches a moment after he has become still. The contradiction is startling: despite his alien anatomy and predatory silhouette, he keeps his hands folded with the careful manners of a retired diplomat and becomes visibly flustered by untidy paperwork.

Height7 feet 10 inches in true form, 4 inches as an ordinary spider
BuildExtremely tall and lanky, with a narrow humanoid torso, four primary spider limbs, two smaller grasping arms, and a light but formidable chitinous frame
EyesEmerald green with darker green radial fractures that glow in darkness
HairNone. Fine black sensory filaments emerge from the crown of his head and are usually hidden beneath his hood.
SkinGlossy obsidian chitin with deep green undertones, interrupted by pale gray membrane at the joints

Arachon speaks in an archaic, highly formal dialect, with careful pauses and elaborate courtesy. His voice is smooth and dry, like silk drawn over a blade.”

Distinguishing Features

Six smaller eyes open along his temples when he detects a lie.

His shadow sometimes moves one heartbeat later than his body.

A thin silver scar circles his throat, the remnant of a binding collar placed on him by The Monarch.

His cloak smells faintly of rain on stone and crushed mint.

He keeps one ordinary red thread tied around his left wrist, despite having no explanation for where it came from.

Voice

Low, velvet-dry, and controlled, with a faint chorus beneath it as if several distant voices are silently repeating his words.

Clothing

All-black formal clothing layered beneath a pitch-black hooded cloak. The garment is made from heavy woven shadow-silk, stitched with tiny silver treaty seals and lined with pale reflective thread that turns sunlight aside. His high collar and gloves conceal most of his insectoid anatomy, while the cloak hangs low enough to hide his walking limbs until he chooses to reveal them.

Body Language

Arachon remains unnaturally still while others speak, but his smaller eyes track every movement. When irritated, one rear leg taps a measured rhythm beneath his cloak. When genuinely amused, he tilts his head until the emerald reflection in his eyes resembles a thin crescent moon.
