Appearance
Nalia has the composed stillness of someone who has spent long hours pretending to be part of the architecture. She is brown-skinned with a cool umber complexion, a narrow oval face, and a mouth that seems permanently on the verge of deciding whether to smile. Her hands are the first thing people notice: compact, strong-fingered, and heavily callused along the pads and sides from years of locks, wires, rough brick, and cold iron. Her fingertips carry faint blue-black stains from locksmith's chalk and lamp soot that never fully wash away. She moves with her weight slightly forward, as if every step is already testing whether the ground intends to betray her. In stillness, she appears fragile. In motion, she occupies startlingly little space, folding around corners and vanishing behind objects too small to hide an ordinary person. The unexpected contradiction is her laugh, which is warm, bright, and entirely too loud for someone who lives by silence. It arrives rarely, but when it does, it makes her seem younger than she is.
“Low, clear, and careful, with a gentle rhythm. She speaks quickly when improvising, slowly when telling the truth, and drops into a near whisper when discussing the guild.”

Distinguishing Features
Ink-dark fingertips and pale callus lines on both palms from lockwork and climbing
A habit of tilting her head toward broken lamps as if listening for someone inside them
A copper button sewn inside her cuff, rubbed smooth by her thumb
Her unexpectedly resonant laugh, which sounds completely out of place in abandoned streets
Voice
“A soft contralto with a dry, almost musical cadence. Her words rarely rise in volume, but her laughter carries across empty streets with startling force.”
Clothing
A smoke-blue wool coat cut short at the knees, patched from inside rather than outside, over a close-fitting brown vest and soft grey shirt. Her trousers are wrapped at the calves with faded green cloth, and her split-soled boots are reinforced with thin strips of boiled leather. A pale scarf covers her throat and can be pulled over her mouth. She wears no jangling jewelry, but a copper button from her mother's shop is sewn inside her left cuff.
Body Language
She angles her body toward doorways and keeps one heel free to pivot. Around strangers, she is compact and watchful. Around injured people, she leans close without seeming to notice that she has crossed their personal space. When lying, she becomes unnaturally still and stops blinking for several seconds.
