Special Guard Courier
Mireya Otxaran

Appearance
Mira has a narrow, attentive face and an almost unnerving stillness when she is listening. Her movements are economical, made of small turns and carefully placed feet, as though every street were a map she has already measured. Her hands are the first thing most people notice: broad-palmed, knuckled, and permanently roughened by years of sealing parcels, climbing drainpipes, and carrying hot lamp oil. Fine blue-black ink stains the creases of her fingers. She breathes through her nose in a soft, metronomic rhythm, but when frightened her breath catches in tiny birdlike clicks. The unexpected contradiction is that her severe, watchful silhouette is softened by an expression of almost childlike wonder whenever she sees something beautiful, such as frost on a broken window or a moth circling a dead lamp.
“Her voice is low, clear, and gently rounded, with a soft river-district cadence. She never rushes a sentence unless someone is in immediate danger.”

Distinguishing Features
Her breath is nearly silent when calm but makes faint clicking catches when she is frightened.
The palms and first two fingers of both hands are rough, ink-stained, and crosshatched with tiny sealing-wax burns.
She wears three colored knots on a cord around her wrist and touches them whenever someone mentions authority.
She leaves a faint scent of cold metal, lamp oil, and dried mint.
Her silhouette beneath a lamp appears taller and more severe than she actually is.
Voice
“Soft, measured, and intimate, like someone speaking beside a sleeping person. Her consonants become clipped and exact under stress, while her breath develops a faint clicking rhythm.”
Clothing
A close-fitted charcoal guard coat under a faded blue courier's mantle, both cut short enough for running. The coat is fastened with dull brass toggles and lined with pale gray cloth marked by tiny route symbols. She wears soft-soled traveling boots, reinforced gloves with the fingertips removed, a narrow utility belt, and a hood that casts her face into silhouette beneath streetlamps.
Body Language
Mira stands with her weight slightly forward, ready to move rather than fight. She keeps her hands visible, palms relaxed, but her thumb constantly rubs the three knots of her message cord. When calm, she turns her head before her body, as if her attention arrives ahead of her. When rattled, her shoulders rise, her breath clicks, and she becomes rigidly polite.
