Oikku Sarn
Rogue, Scout
Oikku Sarn
Species
Cinderclaw, Tunnel-Runner
Appearance
Skitch is a compact Cinderclaw, scarcely four feet tall, with ochre-grey scales powdered in furnace ash. His scales are not smooth, but ridged and pebbled along the shoulders, forearms, and spine, as if years of crawling through volcanic grit have weathered him into a living piece of masonry. A narrow throat pouch trembles whenever he listens. He moves in abrupt, economical bursts, then locks completely still with one claw lifted, reading distant footfalls through the stone. His hands are broad-palmed and blackened at the tips, with pale pressure-calluses from rope, pitons, and signal horns. The unexpected thing about him is his gentleness. He handles maps, hatchlings, and injured birds with the care of a priest handling relics, yet can vanish over a parapet before most people realize he has moved.
“His voice is a dry, low rasp threaded with quick clicks. He speaks in short bursts when alert, then suddenly offers long, precise explanations when discussing trails, pressure, or someone else's safety.”

Distinguishing Features
His throat pouch trembles visibly whenever he detects distant movement or a concealed voice.
The pads of his hands are permanently darkened and polished from rope, iron, and volcanic grit.
He wears three tiny copper rings on his left hornlet, one for each patrol partner lost under the gorge.
His eyes narrow to horizontal slits when he studies a person, giving the impression that he is measuring their outline rather than looking at them.
His ash-grey mantle is covered in almost invisible stitched symbols marking safe ledges and dead-end passages.
Voice
“A dry, low rasp with quick clicking undertones, like pebbles tapped together inside a chimney. When he whispers, the sound carries farther than it should through stone corridors.”
Clothing
A light leather harness reinforced with copper rings, ash-grey climbing wraps, a short hooded mantle treated against soot, fingerless grip gloves, and soft split-toe boots. Spyglasses, signal horns, chalk tubes, waxed slate boards, pitons, and knotted cords hang from the harness in carefully balanced clusters.
Body Language
Skitch is rarely still in the ordinary sense. His eyes flick between corners, hands, exits, and patches of disturbed dust, while his claws make silent counting motions against his harness. When he trusts someone, his shoulders lower and his tail curls loosely around one ankle. When he suspects betrayal, his throat pouch stops trembling and his entire body becomes unnervingly motionless.
