Torm
Torm
At the table
Voice
A brisk, dry voice with a slight rasp from street dust and long hours calling across crowds. Torm often takes a quick breath through the nose before cutting into a discussion. Their name lands as a short, firm syllable; the rest of their speech runs fast, with the practiced projection of someone used to being heard in an unruly room.
Torm's words come in quick, clipped bursts, shaped by years of speaking over crowds, rattling carts, and hurried meetings. They favor blunt verbs and concrete questions. When excited, they crowd several ideas into one breath; when genuinely listening, they leave a deliberate pause before answering, as if making room for the other person's words.
Speech patterns
How to play them
Torm responds well to people who offer concrete help, speak plainly, and respect the agency of the neighborhood. They challenge vague promises and press for a next step. Show that caution can protect people rather than merely postpone action, and they may listen. If treated as a symbol instead of a person, they become cutting and evasive.
Goal
Build a network of local Hands strong enough to preserve Rendrakian culture and win political change without sacrificing the trust that makes the network work.
Motivation
Torm wants the Assembly to act while it still has the trust and energy of the people it serves. Under that urgency is a more personal need to prove that action can repair harm rather than merely cause it.
Appearance
Torm is compact and spring-loaded, with a quick, forward-tilting walk that makes it seem as though the next sentence has already started tugging them onward. Their dark, wind-roughened skin is usually dusted with chalk from marking meeting places and routes. They scan doors, windows, and the people standing near them before settling their gaze on anyone's face. Their hair is cropped close at the sides and left in a stubborn, uneven crest. Unexpectedly, they carry a tiny folding wooden bird, carved with painstaking care, and turn it over whenever a meeting becomes too heated.
Clothing
A patched short coat with deep inner pockets, a broad sash used to carry notices and supplies, sturdy trousers, and boots scuffed pale with street dust. Their clothes are practical, repaired often, and marked inside with tiny stitched symbols used to identify safe meeting routes.
Body language
Torm leans toward whoever is speaking, but their eyes keep counting the room. Their hands punctuate arguments with brisk, chopping motions; when they are trying not to interrupt, they rub the edge of the carved bird with one thumb. They shift their weight as if standing still were a temporary inconvenience.

AC 11 · HP 6 · 30 ft.Torm is a level-0 civilian organizer, not a trained combatant. They try to keep others moving toward exits, use cover, and avoid trading blows. If trapped, they swing their walking stick to create an opening, then flee or shield someone slower. They do not seek a fair fight.

Background
Torm grew up in the Rendrakian quarter, where songs, craft marks, and family histories were quietly disappearing from public life under an administration that called them inconvenient. Their first work for the Assembly was small: passing messages, finding meeting rooms, and persuading neighbors to teach children old work songs. Then, during a winter eviction, Torm urged people to wait for a safer plan. A family was put out before dawn, and a child was separated from the others in the confusion. Torm found the child and brought them home, but the delay reshaped their politics: now they treat hesitation as a choice with a cost, even when acting fast creates new dangers. They organize local Hands, the neighborhood circles that arrange mutual aid, demonstrations, and cultural teaching, and have become a possible successor to Sada. Sada values Torm's courage but warns that an organizer who cannot pause may spend other people's safety to prove a point. Torm is also trying to mend things with an old friend, Brin, who left the movement after Torm committed their group to a risky action without a proper vote.
Role in the story
A charismatic organizer who can connect the party to the Assembly, challenge their assumptions about the cost of delay, and draw them into local struggles. Torm may become a leader, a hard-earned ally, or a cautionary example of courage outrunning consent.
