Appearance
Sheda is a young gnome with proportions closer to a small human than to the compact, round-limbed shape most people expect. She stands straight-backed and alert, placing most of her weight on the balls of her feet as if every conversation might suddenly become a dance. Her tan face has a broad, open smile beneath a somewhat broad nose, and her bright hazel eyes shine with restless interest. Crimson-brown hair springs out in every direction, coarse at the ends but glossy near the scalp, as though each strand has just been startled by a new idea. Her fingers are long and expressive, constantly worrying the braided cords at her wrists. The unexpected contradiction is that her clothing is ornate and theatrical, while her hands are stained with dust, ink, and cooking spices rather than grease or machine oil. She leaves people with the impression of a cheerful festival lantern that has somehow learned to listen.

A russet linen blouse under a sleeveless brown vest embroidered with winding red, ochre, and blue patterns. Her knee-length overskirt is patched with carefully matched scraps from many villages. She wears soft leather boots, a sash full of folded song cards, and two braided wrist cords decorated with tiny ceramic beads. Everything is modest in material but elaborate in workmanship.
Body Language
She stands unnaturally upright for a gnome, leaning slightly forward from the ankles as though eager to cross the space between herself and the next interesting thing. Her thumbs repeatedly rub the raised beads on her wrist cords. When listening, she tilts her head toward the speaker while keeping her eyes on the speaker's hands. When angry, her smile remains in place but becomes perfectly still.
