At the table
Voice
A smooth purr with a self-satisfied edge, produced with careful breath control from years of speaking over quarry noise. Her Albanian accent gives her consonants a distinct, measured shape. She sounds amused when doubtful, practical when focused, and hard-edged when a tunnel is in danger.
She speaks in a smooth, smug purr with an Albanian accent. Her consonants are clean and deliberate, shaped by years of giving measurements over the scrape and rumble of quarry work. She clips distances and directions into exact little units, then lets a dry, amused lilt curl around a claim she doubts. When the ground shifts, she projects plainly and firmly, with no wasted flourish.
Speech patterns
How to play them
She begins by asking what the group has actually seen, then compares their account against her own measurements. Bring a map, physical evidence, or a willingness to revisit a site and she becomes a useful, sardonic ally. Bluffing about tunnel conditions makes her withdraw cooperation. Earn trust by admitting what you do not know and letting her verify the rest.
Goal
Trace the altered survey marks to the sealed watercourse, establish who changed her maps, and determine whether the route can be opened without endangering the settlements above.
Motivation
She needs the truth about the altered maps, but more deeply wants to prove that careful observation can protect people from powerful lies.
Appearance
Arjeta is a slender, narrow-hipped tabaxi with a poised, self-possessed bearing. Her short, coarse fur is dirty yellow broken by irregular black bands, as if soot has been dragged through straw. Bright blue eyes travel constantly: not to faces first, but to doorframes, ceiling joints, floor seams, and the hands of whoever is speaking. Her ears make small, independent adjustments to every sound. She moves with a surveyor's care, placing each foot as though testing a bridge. Her unexpected detail is the fine, exact stitching of tiny geometric patterns into the inside hems of her work clothes, a private craft she practices with patient precision. People remember the impression that she has already measured the room and found it wanting.
Clothing
A close-fitted, weather-darkened leather coat over a practical shirt and trousers, reinforced at the knees and elbows. Her studded leather armor is scuffed rather than polished. A waxed canvas map tube rides across her back, and a soft scarf keeps dust from her whiskers. Tiny geometric stitches decorate the hidden hems.
Body language
Her gaze inventories architecture before it settles on a speaker. She angles one ear toward whoever is talking and the other toward the nearest passage. When suspicious, she stands where she can see both a person's hands and the nearest exit. She taps stone lightly with a knuckle, listens, and watches the other person's reaction more closely than the wall.

Personality
13 traits and drivesArjeta is exacting and suspicious, yet not cold: she distrusts easy assurances but quietly makes sure the least experienced person has a clear route out. In the field she is methodical and impatient with improvisation; over a meal she can be dryly playful, especially when someone confidently misnames a tool. When frightened, she becomes efficient and clipped rather than visibly panicked. When grieving, she avoids comfort and asks for practical help.

Combat
AC 15 · HP 45 · 30 ft.Arjeta avoids fair fights. She scouts exits, takes cover, and uses Cunning Action to reposition or disappear. She focuses Sneak Attack on an exposed opponent, preferably one already engaged by an ally, then retreats behind stone or a heavy obstruction. She uses her crossbow in confined lanes and keeps a shortsword for when enemies close. If a tunnel is unstable, she warns allies before using the terrain; she will not deliberately trigger a collapse while rescuers or trapped workers may be inside.

Background
Arjeta learned to map tunnels for the quarry settlement of Ganjë, where her mother, Besa, kept the ventilation shafts clear and her uncle, Dritan, repaired braces. As a young adult she trusted a foreman's claim that a newly cut gallery was sound. During a shift change, a roof collapse trapped seven workers. Arjeta found a narrow air seam by listening to the stone and led the rescuers through it, but her younger brother Luan died before they reached him. Since then, she treats every confident assertion as a hypothesis to be tested against the walls. She left the quarry and became an independent surveyor, charting old roads, mines, drains, and forgotten underways. She still sends part of her earnings to Besa, who resents her departure but depends on her, and keeps up an awkward correspondence with Luan's widower, Jori. Now several maps she certified have been altered after delivery. The changes point toward a sealed underground watercourse, and someone is paying well to keep her from checking it.
Role in the story
A sharp-eyed guide, skeptical witness, and source of maps whose accuracy has become a dangerous question. She can lead the party through buried routes, uncover sabotage, or refuse to certify a path until they help her inspect it.
“As a young adult she trusted a foreman's claim that a newly cut gallery was sound.”
- Faction
- Independent surveyor. She maintains a wary, practical relationship with the quarry settlement of Ganjë but belongs to no formal organization.
