Simeon
Simeon
At the table
Voice
A dry, close-miked sound with a little catch in the breath, as if each sentence must pass a small obstruction. His consonants are exact and his vowels carry a trace of old-fashioned German formality. When hungry, the jaw movement becomes visible before the voice changes.
His voice has a dry catch that seems to come from a throat unused to ordinary breath. He articulates with careful, old-fashioned precision, shaped by military routine and long solitude. The breath-click at the end of each inhalation interrupts his sentences. When rattled, his jaw works harder and words come out in short, overcontrolled bursts.
Speech patterns
How to play them
He presents himself as Günther, speaks plainly, and tests whether visitors respect boundaries. He will trade information or stolen goods if he believes it keeps his bunker hidden. Treating him as a monster confirms his expectations; treating him as harmless makes him suspicious. Jari is the quickest way to reach his remaining tenderness, but using Jari as leverage can provoke immediate violence.
Goal
Find a way to silence or escape the demon within him without surrendering the identity and routines that have kept him going.
Motivation
To make his existence feel chosen rather than cursed, even as he searches for a way to stop being a predator.
Appearance
Simeon looks like a well-kept boy who has stepped out of a photograph and forgotten to leave it behind. His skin is pale and dry as old paper when starved, warming to a faint, unsettling pink after feeding. His blond hair is cut bluntly around his ears, combed with meticulous care, and already falling into place again when disturbed. He stands at an average height for a German boy of his apparent age, lean under his heavy coat. He moves with the careful, economical steps of someone crossing a room full of sleeping people, then can lunge with the abrupt force of a dropped trapdoor. His jaw works sideways before he bites, as if testing the hinge; his small, crowded teeth look ordinary until he opens his mouth too wide. His breathing is shallow and irregular, with a dry click at the end of each inhalation. A sudden change from bright light to shadow makes him stop mid-motion, blinking and turning his head as though the room has been rearranged. The incongruity of his spotless cuffs, schoolboy face, and ancient military coat is hard to forget.
Clothing
A carefully maintained Second World War German overcoat with all insignia removed, plain dark trousers, scuffed boots, and a clean shirt when he can obtain one. He keeps the coat brushed and mended, though the hem is permanently stained with bunker water.
Body language
He holds his shoulders square as if awaiting inspection, but keeps his hands close to his ribs. His jaw shifts before he answers a difficult question. When threatened, he goes unnaturally still; when startled by a sudden change in light, his head jerks toward the darkest nearby patch.

Distinguishing features
Personality
16 traits and drivesSimeon is proud of his grooming and his ability to endure, but privately ashamed of his first desertion. He craves the certainty of strict beliefs and resents anyone who mistakes certainty for courage. With strangers he is guarded and severe; with Jari he is awkwardly solicitous, offering practical help instead of affection. After feeding he can seem almost warm and sociable, then recoil from that warmth as if it were evidence against him.
- Alignment
- Ruthlessly ideological, but not loyal to any living political movement. His convictions give his hunger a target and a justification.

HP 6 · Custom Other rules: moves at an ordinary walking pace; can make a sudden close-range lunge in a confined space. He chooses victims in advance, prefers darkness and confined approaches, and attacks at close range. He tries to unsettle or isolate a target before biting, but becomes rash if his beliefs are challenged or a sudden lighting change leaves him disoriented. He retreats rather than risk revealing the bunker.

Background
Simeon remembers no childhood, family, or name from before the grave. His first clear memory is waking underground, chewing at himself in panic and hunger before he clawed his way through the earth. The burial shroud remained with him; he keeps it folded away and has cut off a strip to chew when he is frightened. He wandered through the wars in the old lands, first deserting during the First World War and carrying that flight as a private disgrace. When the Second World War began, he joined eagerly, drawn to its uniforms, orders, and brutal certainty. He kept his old overcoat but removed every insignia. Years of solitude blurred his memories into scraps, and he now calls himself Günther when a name is required, though few people see past the vampire. In 2026 he shelters in a partly flooded German wartime bunker near Berlin. He keeps his sleeping room unnervingly neat and the rest of the bunker secret, surviving by robbing people he judges guilty under his harsh personal doctrine. His only real friend is Jari, a tolerant teenager who treats him as family and does not ask him to pretend to be human. Simeon wants a way out of the demon inside him, yet repeatedly chooses the familiar comfort of violence and ideology over the uncertainty of change.
Role in the story
A dangerous, tragic resident of the city's margins who may be an antagonist, a source of unsettling historical testimony, or a fragile ally. His bunker, his friendship with Jari, and his warped search for a cure give the players ways to negotiate with him without making his predation harmless.
“His first clear memory is waking underground, chewing at himself in panic and hunger before he clawed his way through the earth.”
- Faction
- No active faction. He borrows the language of ruthless ideologies to excuse and direct his predation, but has no formal allegiance.
