Boro Nask

Level 20·Male·Medium
Lawful neutral with strong protective instincts

Species

Crane Beast-Man

Appearance

Boro Nask is a tall crane beast-man whose movements are unnervingly quiet for someone so large. His long neck rises from a broad, armored torso, and his folded wings hang like layered ivory cloaks behind him. His feathers are mostly chalk-white, but soot-gray feathers gather around his shoulders and elbows as though smoke has permanently settled there. He has a narrow black beak with a small chip at the tip, dark amber eyes, and a sparse crest of rust-red plumage that he keeps bound with copper thread. He moves with measured, economical steps, then suddenly unfolds into impossible speed when threatened. He smells faintly of rain on hot stone, lamp oil, and crushed coriander. The contradiction people remember is his delicate, almost ceremonial grooming paired with feet broad enough to leave deep birdlike impressions in wooden floors.

Height7 feet 2 inches
BuildLean and powerfully jointed, with a long-legged soldier's frame, broad shoulders, dense wing muscles, and the compact balance of a creature built for cliffs rather than open ground
EyesDeep amber with narrow black pupils
HairWhite feathers with a rust-red crest and soot-gray shoulder plumage
SkinPale charcoal skin along the beak, talons, and exposed joints, with warm umber skin beneath the feathers

His voice is low, dry, and precise, with a faint rasp like wind over gravel. He speaks slowly when issuing orders and quickly when discussing weather.”

Distinguishing Features

A copper thread is woven through his rust-red crest, and he checks it unconsciously whenever someone lies.

His left wing contains three long black feathers that never molt, a sign of his survival in the lightning field.

His footsteps smell faintly of rain and coriander because he powders his talons with a traditional mountain herb.

He carries a tiny clay whistle made by his dead father and blows it once before making irreversible decisions.

His shadow sometimes shows wings spread wide even when his real wings are folded.

Voice

A controlled baritone with a dry rasp, like a calm commander speaking through high mountain wind

Clothing

A charcoal lamellar cuirass over layered white and indigo robes, reinforced with lacquered horn plates. His sash is woven from old campaign standards. A sleeveless crimson mantle hangs from one shoulder, and small brass bells are sewn into its hem, though they rarely make a sound.

Body Language

Boro continually touches the copper thread around his crest, counting its twists with one claw. When listening, he angles his head sharply to one side and folds one wing tighter than the other. Before combat, he lowers his center of gravity and spreads his wing feathers just enough to make himself appear wider. In moments of grief, he becomes perfectly still except for a slow tremor in his throat.
