The Sentinel’s Test

The Arcane Sentinel steps from the shallow water and raises one crystal blade toward the Nova’s Heart. Blue light races through the hanging roots as the arena seals shut. When the Sentinel strikes, the rune stones flare with the same command symbols carved into its armor.

Moonstone Circle: slick white stone, open ground, and the exposed ritual focus at the center.

Shallow Ring
Shallow Ring: knee-deep water slows movement and carries loose weapons toward the arena edge.

Rooted Arches
Rooted Arches: three living arches form partial cover around the circle; blue light pulses through their bark.
Terrain Levers
- Rune stones: use an action to speak a command symbol, forcing the Sentinel to move 10 feet or stop its next movement.
- Living arches: a creature can take Half Cover beneath an arch; the arch collapses if struck for 10 or more damage.
- Hanging roots: when the Nova’s Heart trembles, blue light reveals the safe path and any creature touching a root can redirect the Sentinel 5 feet.
