Koro Tzintli
Species
Badgerfolk, custom beast-person ancestry
Appearance
Koro is a broad-shouldered badgerfolk man with charcoal-and-cream fur, a blunt muzzle, and a compact body built for bracing against storm-tossed decks. His fur is thickest around his neck and forearms, where it has acquired a permanent sheen of rendered fat, salt, and woodsmoke despite his frequent washing. His hands are the first thing most people notice: square, heavily callused, and darkened at the fingertips from years of hot pans, rope burns, and spice stains. He moves with the careful sideways balance of someone who expects the floor to tilt, yet he is startlingly delicate when plating food. His expression usually suggests a patient grandfather, but his eyes become cold and predatory whenever anyone wastes ingredients. The contradiction is immediate and memorable: he looks built to break a door, but handles a sugared pastry as if it were a sleeping bird.
“His voice is low, rounded, and surprisingly gentle, with a soft coastal cadence. He speaks slowly when comforting someone and clips every word into a sharp command when the ship is in danger.”

Distinguishing Features
A wooden spoon is always tucked through his belt, even during combat.
His left paw has a permanent crescent-shaped patch of fur flattened by years of gripping pan handles.
He smells faintly of toasted cumin, rain-soaked rope, and orange peel.
He unconsciously taps out marching rhythms against nearby surfaces with one claw.
His apron is embroidered with the names of people he has fed during disasters, including several presumed dead.
Voice
“A deep, warm baritone with a faint rasp from years of smoke and salt air. When he calls orders across a deck, the gentleness vanishes and every syllable lands like a struck bell.”
Clothing
A sleeveless canvas cook's coat, patched blue trousers, a red sash carrying spice tins, a stained leather apron, and soft deck shoes with wrapped soles. His coat has dozens of tiny stitched pockets, each labeled in faded thread.
Body Language
He keeps one foot slightly angled outward for balance, tests surfaces with the heel of his paw, and touches the wooden spoon tucked through his belt whenever he is thinking. When threatened, he becomes completely still except for the slow flexing of his thick fingers.
