The Sallow Pit
Blood stains the chaff and the family feud yields a bitter harvest
A claustrophobic network of clay-walled tunnels and rotted timber chambers hidden beneath an abandoned village granary. The facility has been twisted into a gruesome larder by a predator that thrives on the village's internal strife.
The air is heavy with the scent of damp earth and fermenting grain. Dust motes dance in the weak light of oil lanterns, and the constant, rhythmic thud of shifting wheat can be heard through the ceiling planks. Everything is coated in a thin layer of slippery, cold mud.
☠ Threat
The Gristle-Render, a spindly, multi-limbed monstrosity with a porcelain-like face, haunts these tunnels. It uses its ability to mimic the voices of loved ones to lure villagers into its mud-slicked kill zones. The beast grows stronger with every family heirloom it hoards, feeding on the resentment that permeates the very soil of the village.
History
For generations, the Oakhaven and Blackwood families have clashed over water rights and livestock. In a desperate bid for revenge, a Blackwood elder performed a forbidden ritual beneath the communal granary to blight his rival's crops. The ritual instead birthed the Gristle-Render, a horror that began dragging both families into the dark, turning their shared resource into a shared grave.
