Its story
What it looks like
A black-glass reliquary stands within a ring of tarnished silver.
Inside, pale threads coil around a dim, human-shaped glow. When someone approaches, the glow turns toward them and mouths their name.
Why it is here
To drain Sapience from captives, sustain the linked necromancer, or charge a magical item with stolen soul-essence.
Who made it
An unnamed arch-necromancer, whose signature appears in the reliquary's inner silverwork as a name that vanishes when read aloud.
Lore
Necromancers developed soul leeches to feed on captives without leaving wounds that would alert guards.
Their most feared use is not healing, but harvesting: a reliquary can preserve stolen Sapience for an heirloom weapon, a phylactery, or a spell that demands a living mind as its price.
Where it is found
Buried sanctums, sealed libraries, crypt laboratories, and chambers where a necromancer can maintain line of sight or a magical link to the reliquary.
