Its story
What it looks like
A cheerful mural of dancing kobolds and melting chocolate hides a ceiling-mounted copper drum.
Beneath it, glossy brown syrup flows through narrow floor channels toward a grated drain. The syrup smells richly of cinnamon, but its surface is broken by tiny bubbles that pop with a faint hiss.
Why it is here
Protect the chocolate stores and delay intruders long enough for kobolds to escape or rally.
Who made it
A kobold pastry-maker known as Auntie Sizzle, who insists the room is a harmless test of kitchen manners.
Lore
Kobolds built the trap to keep intruders away from their chocolate stores.
The syrup is heated by the cauldron's flue and fed through a copper drum hidden behind a mural. Kobold cooks know the safe path and can stop the mechanism with a turn of a concealed brass knob.
Where it is found
A cramped kobold confectionery room with a low ceiling, a chocolate cauldron, narrow floor channels, and an exit that may lie across the slick floor.
The hazard occupies the room's syrup drum and channels; it does not fill every square.
