The Mulch of the Fallen

The damp air settles over the muddy clearing as the last of the vine-wrapped monstrosities collapses into a heap of rotting vegetation. Sifting through the decomposing organic mass left behind by the shambling mounds reveals the grim remains of previous travelers whose gear survived the crushing grasp of the forest. Near the fungal corpse of the myconid, shimmering spores have settled upon items that the creature seemingly protected within the undergrowth. This battlefield is a graveyard of steel and vine, where the moisture has claimed much, but the hardiest treasures remain to be claimed by those who survived the onslaught.
