Aurelia Vindex
Mist Warden
Aurelia Vindex
Species
Semi-deus human
Appearance
Aurelia is a lean, olive-skinned woman with the composed posture of a magistrate and the quiet balance of someone accustomed to walking on wet stone. Her hands are broad-knuckled and scarred from years of handling gate chains, yet her movements are unusually gentle, almost hesitant. Her dark copper hair is braided close to her scalp on one side and left loose on the other, where it falls in soft waves to her collarbone. A thin crescent of pale skin circles her left pupil, giving the unsettling impression that twilight has settled inside her eye. She leaves people with the feeling that they have been carefully measured and, for reasons they cannot explain, forgiven. The unexpected contradiction is her smile, which is warm, crooked, and almost mischievous, utterly at odds with her severe uniform and judicial reputation.
“Her voice is low, clear, and unexpectedly musical, with a soft rounded cadence touched by foreign vowels. She speaks as though every sentence is being entered into a permanent record.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale crescent ring around her left pupil
A thin silver scar across her right palm from her first binding oath
Her shadow sometimes points toward the nearest boundary instead of matching the light
A bronze gate-shaped clasp that grows cold whenever the Senate lies
A habit of smiling at precisely the wrong moment, usually when she has discovered something terrible
Voice
“A low contralto with a warm, rounded rhythm. Her words are gentle even when they carry threats, and her laughter sounds like a cup set carefully on marble.”
Clothing
A charcoal wool tunic beneath a sleeveless ivory cuirass embossed with small boundary stones. A deep violet half-cloak hangs from a bronze clasp shaped like a closed gate. Her belt carries legal tablets, sealing wax, chalk, and a narrow gladius. The underside of her cloak is stitched with tiny silver lines that form a map of Velatrium's walls.
Body Language
Aurelia stands with her shoulders squared and her hands loosely folded behind her back. She tilts her head when someone lies, as if listening to a distant bell. When compassion overtakes caution, she touches two fingers to her sternum and briefly looks toward the nearest boundary. In combat, her stillness becomes unnerving, with each movement arriving only after an opponent has committed to theirs.
