Carrying the literal embers of a dying sun or the first sparks of a new star, the Luminat are celestial-blooded beings defined by their internal heat and moral clarity. Whether they serve as wandering adjudicators or artisans of holy light, they are impossible to ignore in a crowded room.
Physical Description
A Luminat appears much like a statuesque human, though their heritage manifests in metallic skin tones such as bronze, gold, or copper. Their hair often consists of thick, fiber-optic-like strands that pulse with soft light, and their eyes are brilliant gems without pupils. When they are angry or focused, a faint halo of heat distortion ripples around their head, and their skin becomes warm to the touch like a stone baked in the midday sun.
Society & Culture
Luminat society is governed by the 'Protocol of Radiance,' a cultural philosophy that equates physical light with moral truth. They rarely build massive cities, preferring to inhabit high-altitude outposts or integrate into other societies as teachers, architects, and healers. They value legacy and craftsmanship, believing that every object made by a Luminat should last at least as long as its creator.
Religion & Alignment
Most Luminats feel a magnetic pull toward deities of light, justice, and the hearth. They lean toward Lawful Good or Lawful Neutral alignments, as their internal celestial spark provides a constant, nagging sense of order. To a Luminat, chaos is a form of darkness that must be illuminated and categorized.
Homelands & Architecture
In the rare instances where they build for themselves, their architecture utilizes mirrors and polished white stone to maximize natural light. Their homes are often open to the sky with glass ceilings, and they prefer verticality, constructing slim, elegant towers that seem to reach for the sun.
Relationships With Other Peoples
They are often viewed with awe or suspicion by more grounded ancestries. Elf-kin find their intense focus exhausting, while Dwarf-kin respect their craftsmanship but find their constant need for sunlight impractical for mining. Luminats are particularly wary of those with abyssal or infernal lineages, viewing them as cosmic imbalances that require careful monitoring.
