The Kaiser’s Vanguard

Born from the bloody collapse of the 14th Infantry during the Battle of Mud and Ash, the Vanguard was initially a desperation measure. When the common soldiers began throwing down their rifles in a mass mutiny, the Kaiser commissioned Hasso von Zale to form a unit that would never falter. Zale executed every tenth man in the mutinying regiments and reorganized the survivors into a new, iron-masked force. This 'Purge of the Trenches' solidified their reputation. Since then, they have evolved from a mere tactical unit into the internal spine of the Empire, moving from the front lines to the factory floors to ensure the war machine never grinds to a halt. Their defining moment was the Siege of Vorst, where they gassed their own occupied city to eliminate a rebel cell, viewing the civilian casualties as a necessary fuel for long-term stability.

Founder’s Story

Arch-Marshal Hasso von Zale, a former logistics officer with a fetish for efficiency, convinced the Kaiser that the human heart was the only flaw in the Imperial military. He promised an army that would not feel fear, doubt, or hunger for freedom. He used his personal family fortune to fund the first 'Iron-Lung' respirators and plate carriers, presenting a finished, faceless battalion to the Kaiser on the winter solstice.

The Mechanism of Intent

Public Goals
  • Ensuring the uninterrupted production of heavy artillery shells
  • Identifying and neutralizing foreign saboteurs and spies
  • Maintaining civil order within the industrial hubs
  • Protecting the Kaiser from the 'contagion' of insurgent ideologies
  • Secret Goals
  • Phasing out the traditional draft in favor of chemically-conditioned super-soldiers
  • Seizing control of the coal and steel syndicates to bypass the nobility
  • Using experimental 'Grief-Gas' to break the psychological will of the border regions
  • Current Objectives
  • Break the back of the Freedom Seekers in the western industrial sector
  • Accelerate shell production to 500,000 units per month
  • Locate the rival country's deep-cover extraction team
  • Long-Term Vision

A world structured as a singular, perfectly functioning machine where every citizen is a gear, the Kaiser is the driver, and the Vanguard is the oil that prevents friction.

SuccessionIf the Arch-Marshal falls, the three highest-ranking Iron Wardens must compete in a 'Trial of Efficiency.' The one who can successfully quell a mock uprising with the fewest resources expended is promoted.

    Leadership

Hasso von Zale Arch-Marshal of the Iron Crown

Cold, calculated, and entirely devoid of empathy. He views human beings as data points on a ledger. He is obsessed with clocks and precision.

Colonel Elara Voss Chief of Subterfuge

    Paranoid, sharp-tongued, and incredibly perceptive.

Master Artificer Krenkel Director of Experimental Armaments

Amoral and excited by the 'purity' of high-explosive chemistry.
