Hadfell Twisted Owlbear

Hunters who have seen it at a distance speak of a beast that 'twitches with green fire' and sometimes 'freezes like it remembers something'. Village children whisper that the Hag taught it to 'sing bones' until the creature bled memories into the soil.

Haunted Mind. The owlbear's mind is fragmented by the hag's experiments. At the start of each of its turns it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or act erratically for that turn. While erratic, roll a d6 to determine behavior: 1-2 it does nothing but snarl and lunge (no movement); 3-4 it moves up to its speed away from the nearest creature; 5 it makes a single attack against a random creature in range; 6 it uses Rotting Breath if available. If it succeeds on the save it acts normally.
Sickly Regrowth. The owlbear regains 5 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point and is not exposed to radiant damage. This healing fails if the owlbear has taken radiant damage since the end of its last turn.
Keen Smell. The owlbear has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 () slashing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or gain one level of exhaustion as the owlbear's necrotic bile seeps into its wounds.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 () slashing damage. If the owlbear moved at least 10 feet straight toward the target immediately before hitting it, the target is also knocked prone.
Rotting Breath. The Hadfell Twisted Owlbear inhales, then exhales a stuttering pulse of sickly green motes in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save a creature takes 18 () necrotic damage and is confused until the end of its next turn. On a successful save a creature takes half damage and is not confused. The owlbear can use Rotting Breath once, and regains the use after a short or long rest.
Predator's Parry. When a creature the owlbear can see hits it with a melee attack, the owlbear can add +2 to its AC against that attack, potentially causing the attack to miss. It must use this reaction before knowing the actual damage of the attack.
3rd level
Confusion (manifested by Rotting Breath)Enchantment The owlbear's mind has been rent by magic and it can manifest a single spelllike effect when it exhales its Rotting Breath.
