Appearance
Sella is a narrow, weather-hardened human woman with a face mapped by old burns, wind cuts, and one pale scar that pulls the left corner of her mouth into a permanent almost-smile. Her skin has the dry, fine texture of cracked leather, but her hands are surprisingly gentle, with careful fingers stained black by grease. She moves with a slight forward stoop, as if leaning into a constant wind, and walks with the deliberate balance of someone crossing a moving wagon roof. Her patched respirator hangs at her throat when she speaks and covers her nose and mouth whenever the air turns chalky. The unexpected thing about her is how immaculate her nails are. She cleans them every night with a sewing needle, even when the rest of her looks dragged through an engine fire. She leaves behind an impression of rust, peppermint, and watchful patience.
“Her voice is low, dry, and slightly nasal from years of respirator use. She speaks in short, practical sentences, with sudden bursts of precise technical language.”

Distinguishing Features
A permanent almost-smile caused by a scar at the left corner of her mouth.
A row of identification tags sewn inside her coat, each engraved with a name and a final known location.
A respirator patched with blue thread and fitted with a filter made from crushed charcoal, wool, and old surgical gauze.
Immaculately clean fingernails despite her grease-stained hands and filthy clothing.
A missing lower canine replaced by a polished brass gear tooth.
Voice
“A tired contralto with a rasp beneath it, like sand dragged over sheet metal. She laughs rarely, but when she does it sounds startlingly young.”
Clothing
A sun-bleached mechanic's coat reinforced with tire rubber and ceramic plates, its inner lining covered in stitched identification tags. She wears patched trousers, wrapped boots, a belt of tools, a cracked respirator, fingerless gloves, and a scarf that smells faintly of peppermint oil.
Body Language
Sella keeps one shoulder angled toward the nearest exit and usually holds a tool between two fingers like a surgeon preparing an incision. When amused, she lowers her respirator and lets out a dry breath through her nose. When frightened, she becomes completely still except for her thumb rubbing the edge of an identification tag.
