Appearance
Orin Pell is a lean, weather-ridged human with sun-cracked hands and the posture of a man forever bracing for collapse. His beard is neatly trimmed but perpetually dusted with lime-white grit, as if the village itself has powdered him. He wears his exhaustion lightly and his authority heavily. He moves with a careful, economical step, except when startled, when he becomes suddenly swift and birdlike. The unexpected thing about him is his immaculate brass pocket watch, polished to a bright shine against the ruin-stained cloth of his work coat.
“Low, dry, and measured, with a habit of ending sentences as if he has already checked the answer twice..”

Distinguishing Features
A thin white scar across the left knuckle of his ring finger
A brass pocket watch that never seems to keep the same time twice
Hands cracked by sun and lime, with one nail permanently split
A beard trimmed so carefully it looks almost out of place on him
A habit of smelling faintly of dust, cedar resin, and lamp oil
Voice
“Tired but steady, with a rough edge that softens when he is speaking about the village or the dead.”
Clothing
A dust-gray work coat with repaired elbows, a patched leather apron used as a field ledger pouch, bone buttons mismatched from years of mending, and heavy boots with iron-reinforced toes. He wears one clean white shirt on market days and treats it like ceremonial armor.
Body Language
Stillness serves him better than gesturing. He keeps his shoulders square, chin slightly tucked, and eyes always moving over structural weak points, exits, and hands. When annoyed, he rubs a thumb over the inside of his wrist where a old rope scar runs.
