Theodric Vale
Species
Hill Dwarf
Appearance
Theodric is a narrow-shouldered hill dwarf with the weathered look of someone carved by rain, road dust, and worry rather than stone. His beard is cropped short on the left side and braided only on the right, where three copper rings clink when he turns his head. He walks with a slight stoop, but the stoop vanishes the moment he notices tracks, as if his spine remembers old purpose. His hands are callused, ink-stained at the fingertips, and one thumb is permanently nicked from years of knife work. The contradictory detail that people remember most is his bright, almost festive yellow scarf, patched from a child's dress and tied with absurd care over a mud-colored coat.
“Low, deliberate, and dry as old chalk, with the occasional rough laugh like a boot scraping stone. He speaks in practical images from roads, weather, and animals, and never wastes words when a glance or a pointed finger will do.”

A patched frontier coat over a wool vest, rough trousers tucked into scuffed boots, a yellow scarf, fingerless gloves, and a belt hung with pouches, twine, and small tools.

Still as a fence post when listening, then suddenly quick and angled when action is needed. He rubs his thumb along his knife sheath while thinking, and his shoulders lift protectively whenever someone mentions the road after dark.
