Aethelgard Vane
Inquisitor-Cleric
Aethelgard Vane
Species
Human
Appearance
Aethelgard stands with a terrifying, rod-straight posture that makes him appear taller than his six feet. His skin is the color of old parchment, pulled tight over a skeletal, hawk-like face. He is entirely hairless, his head shaved clean to show no vanity, leaving his piercing, storm-grey eyes as his most prominent feature. He moves with a slow, deliberate precision, never fidgeting. He carries an aura of suffocating stillness. The contradictory element in his look is his hands: while his right hand is always encased in a ceremonial, razor-edged gold glove, his left hand is bare, soft, and meticulously manicured, smelling faintly of expensive rosewater and caustic lye.
“Vane speaks in a dry, soft rasp that forces others to lean in to hear him. He uses impeccable grammar and avoids contractions, giving his words a formal, ritualistic weight.”

Distinguishing Features
A faint, rhythmic clicking sound follows his walk, caused by a small clockwork reliquary on his belt.
A burn scar on his bare left palm in the shape of a lidless eye.
His teeth have been filed into perfectly uniform, blunt squares.
The constant scent of frankincense and ozone follows him.
Voice
“A soft, papery whisper that somehow carries to the back of a large cathedral.”
Clothing
He wears heavy plate armor etched with the tenets of Kirlis in flowing script, over which he drapes a pristine white surplice. A heavy cloak of white velvet, weighted with gold thread, hangs from his shoulders. The symbol of Kirlis - a golden hand on a white field - is emblazoned over his heart.
Body Language
He keeps his hands clasped behind his back. He never blinks when staring at someone he suspects of heresy.
