Appearance
Marda Fen is broad-shouldered and weather-tough, with the comforting sturdiness of a well-built table. Her hands are scarred, flour-dusted, and always warm from the kitchen hearth. She moves with a brisk, rolling step that makes her seem cheerful and hurried at once, apron swaying like a banner. Her face is round and rosy in the cheeks, but her eyes are sharp, pale, and constantly measuring the room. The oddest thing about her is the little silver brooch pinned to her collar, shaped like a cracked tower stone, which she wears over a faded mourning ribbon she never explains.
“Down-to-earth and brisk, with a comforting tavern cadence. She speaks in short, memorable lines, often using food, roads, walls, or weather as metaphors.”

Distinguishing Features
A jagged scar across her left knuckle from a broken bottle in a dockside riot.
A silver brooch shaped like a cracked tower stone, worn over her heart.
A faint soot stain that never quite leaves the seam of her right sleeve.
One eyebrow that lifts higher than the other when she catches a lie.
Voice
“Warm, low, and brisk, like a kettle coming to a boil. She sounds like someone who has fed both soldiers and liars and can tell the difference.”
Clothing
A patched wool dress under a leather apron, a scarf that smells faintly of thyme and smoke, and soft boots meant for quick steps across spilled ale and stone floors.
Body Language
Open and buoyant in public, with squared shoulders and a ready laugh; when suspicious, she still smiles, but her eyes stop moving.
