Captain Elara
Caravan Captain
Captain Elara
Species
Human
Appearance
Captain Elara has the weathered, compact presence of someone shaped by years of bad roads and worse decisions. Her scarred leather armor is dark brown, glossy from oil, and patched with mismatched pieces cut from old saddles. Silver hair is tied back so tightly that it pulls the corners of her eyes upward. She walks with a slight forward lean, moving in short, exact steps as if every floorboard might collapse. Her permanent squint makes her seem suspicious even when amused. Unexpectedly, she wears one delicate blue silk glove on her left hand, carefully protected beneath a leather bracer. Travelers remember her as a hard, angular figure who smells of lamp oil, horse sweat, and winter mint, yet moves with the quiet grace of a dancer when calming frightened animals.
“Her voice is low, dry, and economical, with a faint coastal accent softened by years among traders. She speaks in short commands during danger and unusually precise descriptions during negotiations.”

Distinguishing Features
A permanent squint caused by years of glare, dust, and an old eye injury
A pale scar running from her right temple to the corner of her mouth
Silver hair tied back with black cord and never allowed to loosen
A delicate blue silk glove worn only on her left hand
A brass caravan bell sewn inside her cloak, which rings only when she moves quickly
Voice
“A low, weathered contralto that can cut through rain, wagon noise, and panic without ever becoming loud”
Clothing
Scarred oil-treated leather armor over a gray wool shirt, heavy riding trousers, mud-crusted boots, a weatherproof half-cloak, a belt of brass keys, and a hooded lantern with colored shutters
Body Language
Elara keeps her shoulders squared and her chin slightly raised, but her left hand constantly tests the edge of her blue glove. She rarely points with a finger, preferring to indicate directions with her ledger or lantern. When someone lies, her squint deepens and one corner of her mouth tightens.
