The Gilded Buffer is a precarious strip of land between the Iron Empire and the House of Valerius. Once a lush garden district, it is now a scarred landscape of aristocratic ruins and muddy trenches. Dignitaries and spies frequent grand estates that have been hastily repaired to mask the carnage. Every dinner party is a tactical operation. Behind the gilded facades, experimental armaments are tested and insurgent plots are hatched in the shadows of decaying grandeur.
