Overview

History

The Barnacled Boar was established twenty years ago by Silas Vane after his entire crew was lost to a 'rogue wave' near the cyclopean ruins of the southern coast. He built the tavern using the remnants of his wrecked ship, claiming the wood was too 'haunted by his friends' to be used for anything else.

Quirks

The tavern is constructed from the upturned hull of the 'Sorrowful Bride,' a ship that vanished for fifty years before washing ashore. The floorboards moan with a sound remarkably like human weeping when the tide comes in. A heavy iron-bound cellar door is poorly concealed behind a stack of empty rum kegs, often emitting a rhythmic thumping from below.

What locals say

Local legends claim that the ground beneath the tavern is porous and connected to a series of flooded tunnels that lead directly to the Maw of the Deep. It is said that on nights of the new moon, the patrons of the Boar are not all entirely human.
