Her hair is not hair at all, but a thick, heavy waterfall of fine silver wires that chime softly when she moves. Her eyes are solid spheres of obsidian that reflect the room like mirrors. Despite her stone-like composition, she moves with a slow, rhythmic grace that suggests the shifting of tectonic plates. Curiously, her fingers are stained with bright blue pigment that never washes away, contrasting with her monochrome earthen body.

Grenda is the definition of stoic endurance, yet her internal life is a storm of anxiety. She is deeply compassionate toward the mountain itself, often apologizing to walls when a torch scorches them, but she can be harshly dismissive of people who do not understand 'stone-time.' She treats her settlement like a biological extension of herself, feeling their joys as a gentle vibration and their troubles as a tremor in her joints.

Grenda was born during the Great Tremor, a seismic event that many thought would destroy the Hollow Hearth. She was found as an infant in a pile of rubble, unharmed and laughing. Throughout her life, she served as a miner, then a geomancer, and finally the Matriarch. Ten years ago, she performed a ritual to bond her soul to the Geode of Resonance, the spiritual core of the mountain. While this granted the settlement prosperity, the Geode is now fracturing due to an unknown blight, and Grenda's health is slowly deteriorating alongside it.
