Key Personas

Silas Redmain
Silas is a man of rigid contradictions; he is fiercely protective of his own clan but allows his sons no rest, driving them as hard as his cattle. He is notoriously generous with travelers, often giving away free cuts of meat, yet he remains miserly and suspicious with his neighbors. His paranoia regarding the Constantine family is his defining trait, leading him to see magical conspiracies in every shadow, even as he relies on ancient, superstitious rituals to 'protect' his herd.

Elara Constantine
Elara is a woman of icy composure and simmering resentment. She treats the village as a temporary exile from a life of grandeur she feels she deserves. She is fiercely protective of her family's economic monopoly but has little warmth for her own children beyond their utility as heirs. While she can be performatively gracious to travelers or those she deems 'refined,' she is ruthlessly condescending to the local farming families. She possesses a rational, almost clinical mind that refuses to accept supernatural explanations, viewing them as the 'superstitious prattle of the ignorant.'
