Maris Veldon
Ranger
Maris Veldon
Species
Human
Appearance
Maris moves like a shadow that remembers daylight. She favors angles and economy of motion: each step is measured, each hand placement deliberate. Her travel-worn cloak is lined in many hidden pockets; the hood's interior is embroidered with the faded names of places she once swore never to return to. When she walks through a town, she nods briefly to tavern-keepers and stoops to check the edges of gutters as if looking for tracks only she can see. Unexpectedly gentle hands, callused and stained with pine resin, trace the edges of a brass locket she keeps beneath her shirt when nervous. Her gait can switch from cat-quiet to brisk stalking in a heartbeat, leaving the impression of someone both at home in trees and always slightly out of step with people.
“Quiet, clipped, with plain metaphors drawn from the outdoors; she rarely uses honorifics, and her laughter comes in sharp, unexpected bursts..”

A pale crescent scar across her left cheek from a thorn bramble
Tiny carved raven inlay on the heel of her longbow
The silver streak in her hair
Faint ink smudges on the inside of her forearms from map work
Voice
“Low, slightly rasping from years in wind and smoke; carries a steady cadence that tightens when angered.”
Clothing
Layered travel garments in muted greens and browns: a hooded, oil-darkened travel cloak; studded leather tunic with hidden seams; soft leather boots worn to a smooth gloss; fingerless gloves; a faded red scarf tied around her left forearm that marks her as once part of the Red-Glen rangers.
Body Language
Leans forward when listening, fingers trace edges of items when processing decisions, and rests her weight on the outside of her right foot when impatient.
