In the village of Nattveden, the silence is heavier than the mist. Here, at the edge of the Rotskogen, the trees don't just grow; they reach for you with burls like knuckles and sap like blood. A new affliction has taken root—the Choking Bloom—turning villagers into living wood while they still breathe. The air in the forest tastes of iron and rot, thick enough to coat the back of the throat. You find the villagers whispering behind barred doors. Some pray for a cure, while others eye their neighbors, looking for the telltale green veins and stiffened joints of the Graft. Deep within the Rotskogen, a low, rhythmic thrumming vibrates through the soil, a heartbeat that shouldn't belong to the earth, calling the infected back to the roots from which they supposedly came.
