Azure Spire
A monolithic pillar of polished lapis lazuli that rises four hundred and fifty feet above the Chentoufi harbor. The surface is perfectly smooth, lacking mortar or seams, and its base is currently choked with heavy timber boards and chains. A single, heavy door of blackened iron serves as the only entrance, marked by a pulsating violet rune that seems to absorb the surrounding light.

Azure Spire
Oppressive and unnatural. The air around the base feels thick, and a low, subsonic vibration can be felt in the soles of one's boots. Local wildlife and even dock rats pointedly avoid the shadow cast by the tower.

Bureaucratic, dismissive of magic, and terrified of the potential liability the tower represents.
History
The Warding Rune
The malevolent rune identified by Donna al Jannath acts as a level zero magical hazard. It is designed to induce a sense of profound dread in any who approach within five feet. If touched, the rune discharges a pulse of necrotic energy that leaves the victim's arm cold and numb for several hours.
Internal Geometry
According to restricted texts in the Grand Library, the interior of the spire does not match its exterior dimensions. Scholars believe the tower contains a series of overlapping spatial folds, allowing it to house far more rooms than its sixty-foot diameter would suggest.
Celestial Alignment
The apex of the spire is perfectly aligned with the star-group known as the Voided Eye. Once every fifty years, during the winter solstice, the tower emits a beam of pale blue light that can be seen for miles across the sea.
Denizens
Bureaucratic, dismissive of magic, and terrified of the potential liability the tower represents.
A nervous man who oversees the nearby docks. He is paid to ensure no one lingers near the spire for too long.
An old man who camps in the tower's shadow and claims to hear it whispering the names of people who haven't been born yet.
Rumors & Plot Hooks
- 1.The tower is actually a single, giant soul-gem intended to house a dying god.
- 2.The shadow rune at the entrance was placed there to keep something inside, rather than keeping people out.
- 3.Touching the lapis lazuli under the light of a full moon allows one to hear voices from the Yidrisid era.
Classified Entry
The spire is a dormant conduit for the Shadowfell. The rune on the door is not a simple lock but a siphon that has been slowly leaking dark energy into the city's foundations for decades.
