Amberfang Clawfolk are urban sabertooth beast-folk born to balconies, backstages, and moonlit rooftops. They are part acrobat, part courtier, part predator, carrying themselves like a performance that can turn into a pounce in the same breath. In play, they fit best as elegant skirmishers, dramatic bards, clever rogues, and any hero who treats the city as both home and hunting ground.
Physical Description
Amberfang Clawfolk are graceful beast-folk with lean, athletic frames, rounded feline faces, and expressive ears that swivel toward every sound. Their coat ranges from gold and tawny to deep amber, often marked with soft rosettes or shadow stripes, and the underbelly is commonly cream or pale ivory. Their most distinctive feature is a set of long sabertooth canines, elegant rather than monstrous, usually visible when they smile. Their tails are long and balanced, their paws nimble, and their eyes shine gold, green, or pale copper in low light.
Society & Culture
Amberfang society treats reputation as a living currency. A good tale, a flawless entrance, or a daring rescue can lift a whole household. Families are often large, but troupes, ensembles, and workshop circles are just as important as blood kin. Apprenticeship begins early, and youths are taught to hunt for opportunity in the same way their ancestors hunted prey. Public self-control matters, yet so does the ability to unleash the self at the proper moment. To an Amberfang, refinement is not the opposite of ferocity. It is its highest expression.
Religion & Alignment
Most Amberfangs are pragmatic and symbolic in their faith, honoring moonlit patrons, city guardians, ancestors of the stage, and spirits of the hunt. Their alignments vary widely, though many lean toward neutral or good because their culture prizes kinship, public reputation, and protection of the vulnerable. A minority embrace ruthless ambition, especially in politics, crime, or the ruthless economics of performance.
Homelands & Architecture
Amberfang districts grow upward and inward. Their homes favor stacked balconies, cool interior courtyards, climbing lattices, and ledges built for easy leaping between rooftops. Public spaces matter deeply, so even modest neighborhoods usually include a small performance square, a shared water basin, and a roofline path for messengers and watchcats to travel unseen.
Relationships With Other Peoples
Amberfangs are usually well liked in cities that value art, gossip, and agility, though their confidence can read as arrogance to more reserved folk. They tend to get on well with entertainers, couriers, spies, and anyone who respects talent. They clash with bullies, censors, and people who mistake elegance for weakness. Among themselves, they are fiercely competitive but rarely cruel, measuring worth in loyalty, style, and how one behaves under pressure.
