Amidst the gloom of the dense woodland road, the remains of a luxury mahogany carriage lie scattered. Its wheels are snapped and its fine silks are stained with mud. Half-buried in the debris is an Iron-Bound Strongbox, its surface scarred but its heavy lock remains stubborn. A difficult lockpicking check (DC 18) is required to bypass the intricate internal tumblers that were designed to protect a high-born traveler's most precious cargo during a desperate flight from danger.
