Ashmere Crypt

The dead of Ashmere do not rest, they wait.

12 roomscryptmedium

This crypt was built beneath an old battlefield to house the dead of a fallen bloodline and the relics buried with them. The lower chambers have since been claimed by restless guardians and a buried will that refuses to stay silent. Every passage feels deliberate, as if the dead still remember the shape of the place.

Cold drafts crawl through cracked stone, carrying the smell of wet dust, old incense, and something faintly metallic beneath the rot. Torches burn low and blue in the deeper halls, while distant scrapes, whispered prayers, and the occasional clatter of bone keep the place feeling awake.

☠ Threat

A bound grave-knight, once the Ashmere family champion, stirs in the deepest chamber and commands the restless dead through oath-bound rites. His influence seeps through the crypt in whispers, animating guardians, corrupting shrines, and turning the tomb’s own wards against intruders. If the seals fail completely, the crypt will become a battlefield of obedient corpses and vengeful spirits.

History

Three generations ago, the Ashmere line raised this crypt over their war dead after a plague of battlefield hauntings. The family vowed the fallen would rest with their honors and weapons, but their mortuary priests kept adding chambers for forbidden rites and emergency burials. When the last keeper died, the seals were left imperfect and the dead were never truly quiet again.
