Sunward Temple
The temple's wards still judge every step, and the faithful still answer from the dark.
This temple was built as a fortified place of healing, vows, and sacred trials, but its inner wards have become unstable and strangely permissive. What remains is a sprawling holy complex full of prisons, shrines, and sealed vaults where every hall seems prepared to test intruders before revealing its final secret.
Cold incense, old stone, and faint humming ward-lines fill the halls. Bronze lamps burn with steady blue flame, while distant bells and water drips echo through a maze of prayer cells, vaults, and sealed sanctums. The deeper chambers feel warmer and more charged, as if the temple itself is holding its breath.
☠Threat
The temple's ward-system has begun misreading all outsiders as unproven initiates, triggering escalating trials, restraints, and transformation blessings throughout the complex. At its heart, the last high officiant, a stubborn and half-delirious protector, commands the deeper wards and views intrusion as a final test that must be survived, not negotiated.
History
The Sunward Temple was raised by a healer-priesthood to shelter pilgrims, house sacred relics, and test initiates through rites of devotion and strength. When a schism split the order, the lower complex was sealed behind warded doors and repurposed as a guarded retreat for the loyal. Over generations the rites kept running, the seals weakened, and the temple became a labyrinth of holy defenses and forgotten vows.
Encounter Table
CRWatchful temple novices carrying lanterns and keys, sent to inspect noises and missing offerings.
Bronze guardian shells that march along old patrol routes and strike at anyone without a temple token.
Quiet laborers moving supplies, mending lamps, and gossiping in whispers as they cross between common rooms.
A stern senior priest escorting a prisoner or carrying a sealed relic box between shrines.
Rumours & Whispers
Pilgrims who enter the temple's lower halls come back taller, stronger, and strangely embarrassed by how good they feel.
The old prison wing still holds a living priest who can quote every secret door in the complex.
A hidden relic in the deepest shrine is said to wake the temple's bells if stolen.
Some of the temple's traps are blessings in disguise, meant to test worthy initiates rather than kill them.
The Sunward Temple was never empty, only waiting for the right heir to return.

Thin silver chimes hang from lintels and stir whenever someone passes, giving away careless movement.
Low temple braziers release sweet cedar smoke that masks footsteps but also makes stealthy travel sluggish.
Pale blessing glyphs glow under torchlight, sometimes fading into warning sigils when the wrong door is touched.
