Stonewrought Crypt
The dead do not rest here, they stand watch.
This massive crypt was built like a fortress beneath the earth, with barracks, shrines, prisons, and sealed vaults spread around a central funerary complex. It has since become a haunted machine of burial and defense, where old wardens, stolen dead, and stone constructs still obey commands long after their masters vanished.
Cold incense and wet stone cling to every corridor. The crypt echoes with distant iron groans, dragging chains, and a low metallic hum that seems to come from the walls themselves; pale witchlights gutter over sarcophagi, and the air grows colder and dustier the deeper one goes.
☠Threat
A buried command bell and its caretaker, a grave-ward construct that still enforces ancient funerary law, have been corrupted by lingering necromantic rites. It animates the crypt's guardians, enslaves the restless dead, and is slowly unsealing the royal prison beneath the boss chamber, threatening to wake the entombed bloodline.
History
Centuries ago, a line of giant-bonded mortuary architects built this crypt to imprison a royal bloodline that had abused necromancy and elemental pacts. The dead were laid beneath layered wards, then defended by constructs and disciplined garrisons sworn to keep the dynasty from rising again. When the dynasty's last heir disappeared, the wardens fell silent, but the burial engine never stopped.
