This ruined castle keep was sealed in haste after its last lord fell to betrayal and dark rites. Now the surviving wards are fraying, and something far worse than looters has made the heart of the keep its nest.

Cold draft leaks through cracked stone, carrying the stink of old incense, wet dust, and rusted iron. Torchlight gutters strangely here, as if the castle itself resents being seen, while distant scraping and the occasional metallic groan echo through the narrow halls.

☠ Threat

A gravebound warlord, half-enshrined in old armor and sustained by broken funeral rites, has awakened in the keep's throne room. He commands the castle's lingering dead and is using the shrine's corrupt remnants to anchor himself to the world, while a deeper sealed horror beneath him strains at the wards. If not stopped, the keep will become a beacon for every restless corpse in the marshes.

History

Castle Blackmere was raised to command a strategic ford and to house the oath-binders who swore fealty to the river crown. In its final decade, the lord's chaplain and steward conspired to use the chapel and library to hide a forbidden succession rite, but the ritual twisted into a burial pact. The castle was abandoned after a single night of slaughter, then locked and forgotten.
