The Blade-and-Bastion of Last Oath is a matched longsword and shield forged from a single slab of meteoric iron, then split while still white-hot so that each half remembers the other. The sword’s edge gleams like a fresh wound, bright along one side and dark as old blood along the other. Its shield is round, broad, and slightly concave, with a raised boss shaped like a snarling tusked face. When held together, the weapon and shield hum like twin heartbeats. The sword’s crossguard arcs into two hooked prongs that can catch blades, while the shield’s rim is set with seven narrow notches that flash like teeth when the item hungers for battle. Runes along both pieces flare crimson whenever a foe worthy of judgment stands before the bearer.
