Seressa Vane
Prelate Inquisitor
Seressa Vane
Species
Human
Appearance
Seressa Vane looks carved rather than born, all narrow angles and deliberate lines, with a stillness that feels practiced rather than peaceful. Her skin is pale and wax-smooth, as if candlelight has lived on it too long, while her black hair has been shorn into a severe halo of uneven lengths that never quite settles, always catching on the collar of her vestments. One side of her face is veiled by a translucent strip of prayer gauze, not from injury alone but from habit, as though she refuses the world a full accounting of herself. Her hands are elegant and long-fingered, but the knuckles are scarred and stained with old incense and sealing wax. She moves like a judge crossing a flooded aisle, precise and weightless, yet her boots are thick with practical mud and travel grime, a contradictory hint that she still walks the world she claims to sanctify. The overall impression is of a woman trying to become a monument, and failing in a way that makes her more frightening.
“Low, clipped, and ceremonial, with clean enunciation and the habit of turning accusations into formal statements. When emotional, her voice gets even quieter, as if she is refusing the world the satisfaction of hearing her break.”

Distinguishing Features
A translucent prayer gauze covering the right side of her face.
Three wax-sealed scars on her left palm from a failed oath rite.
A brass halo pin that has been bent into a slight crescent by impact.
Ink-dark fingertips from constant contact with sigil soot and legal seals.
A small bell-shaped burn mark at the base of her throat.
Voice
“Calm, resonant, and temple-trained, with a thin edge of fatigue under the authority.”
Clothing
A layered black and white prelate vestment reinforced with hidden chain stitching, a ash-gray mantle lined in gold thread, lacquered prayer boots, and a chest harness of hanging seals, keys, and wax tablets. Beneath the robes she wears practical travel leathers and a hidden mail shirt.
Body Language
Controlled and economical, with hands folded at the wrist when listening and one foot always angled toward the nearest door. When she condemns someone, she does not point, she inclines her chin as if allowing a verdict to settle.
