Liora Vellin Brindle
Monk
Liora Vellin Brindle
Species
Halfling
Appearance
Liora is a small, springy halfling with the compact grace of a coiled ribbon, always seeming one breath away from motion. Her skin is warm olive with a faint dusting of pale freckles across her nose and knuckles, as if ink splashed her during childhood and never quite washed out. Her dark hair is shaved close on one side and braided on the other into a thick rope threaded with copper rings and tiny scraps of blue wax seal. She wears severe scholar's robes over a fighter's body, neat gray cloth reinforced at the shoulders with hidden stitching, and soft wrappings around her forearms and feet. The contradiction is striking: her clothing is orderly and almost clerical, yet every seam is worn from climbing, rolling, and sudden bursts of violence. She moves with the controlled hush of a librarian, except when startled, when she becomes a blur of elbows, sandals, and offended dignity.
“Measured, precise, and pleasantly dry, with a habit of citing chapter headings or witness dates instead of making broad claims.”

Distinguishing Features
A crescent scar runs from her left temple into her hairline, hidden only when she wears the braid forward
Her right forefinger is stained blue from years of catalog inks
She has one silver hoop in the ear that was not damaged in the fire, worn as a private memorial
Her knuckles are callused in neat rings from striking training posts and closing drawers too hard
Voice
“Low, quick, and exact, with the soft confidence of someone used to being obeyed in libraries and ignored in alleys”
Clothing
Layered slate-gray monk's robes modified with hidden pockets, inkproof cuffs, soft leather foot wraps, a narrow cobalt sash, and a signet cord worn beneath the collar
Body Language
She stands with her weight on the balls of her feet, as if the floor may need to be crossed suddenly, and her hands are almost always busy straightening papers, sleeves, or the edge of a cup. In conversation she tilts her head like an appraiser examining a flawed gem. When threatened, her shoulders lower instead of rising, and her whole body looks smaller right before she moves like a striking hinge.
