Appearance

Mirel looks like a village child who has wandered out of a prayer and into a thunderstorm. She is small even for seven, all elbows and delicate wrists, with a mop of red hair that never lies flat and seems to catch stray light in copper threads. Her deep blue eyes are unnervingly steady, bright as river ice under moonlight, and they often seem to be watching something just behind a person's shoulder. She wears a faded light blue peasant dress patched at the hem in three different shades of cloth, and simple sandals dusted with road grit. A strange aura of drifting pale sparks, warm mist, and the faint scent of rain follows her by half a step. The contradiction that makes people remember her is that she carries herself with grave, almost royal stillness, but breaks into skipping laughter when she spots snails, ribbon, or fresh bread.

Distinguishing Features

Deep blue eyes that seem to reflect candlelight even in daylight

A pale, living aura of blue-white sparks and mist

A small crescent burn scar hidden under her left collarbone

One sandal buckle made from a bent silver nail

Red hair that frizzes only when someone nearby is lying

Voice

Clear, hushed, and slightly echoing, as if spoken from inside a warm room during rain

Clothing

A light blue peasant dress patched at the sleeves and hem, a cord belt with a clay bead tied to it, and worn leather sandals with re-stitched straps

Body Language

She keeps her shoulders slightly hunched until she senses danger, then straightens with unnatural composure. Her hands are busy when she is thinking, folding hems, twisting grass, or tracing circles in dust. When upset, she smiles too politely. When angry, the aura around her sharpens and the tiny lights orbit faster.
