Marella Thornwhisper

Marella Thornwhisper
Species
Human (Fey-Touched)
Appearance
Marella is a short, wiry woman with bark-brown skin that looks weathered like an old apple tree trunk after a long winter. Her deep green eyes are sharp and unreadable, but the corners soften when she looks at living things that are hurting. Her long gray hair is usually knotted with leaves, seed pods, and the occasional flower that should not be blooming out of season. She moves with a quiet, joint-saving precision, as if every step has already been tested for weak boards, loose stones, and bad intentions. Her torso is thin but powerfully corded, her arms sinewy and rope-hard from years of digging and hauling, and her hands are rough, dirt-stained, and permanently scented with rain-soaked soil. She wears earth-toned robes patched with velvet moss, faded linen, and strips of weatherproof barkcloth. The strangest thing about her is a silver embroidered collar that belongs on a courtier, not a groundskeeper, and it always stays spotless no matter how much mud she works through.
“Low, careful, and threaded with old country sayings. She often answers questions with observations about weather, roots, or birds before giving the direct answer.”
Alignment
Distinguishing Features
Her left wrist bears a pale ring-shaped scar that never tans
Moss seems to grow faster wherever she waters the ground
Her shadow sometimes lingers a heartbeat behind her
The silver embroidered collar around her throat stays immaculate even in mud
She smells faintly of rain on stone and crushed mint
Voice
“Soft, dry, and steady, like leaves shifting over old stone”
Clothing
Layered earth-toned robes, a weatherproof cloak lined with stitched moss, heavy lace-up work boots, a belt of herb satchels and pruning tools, and a silver collar that looks too elegant for her station
Body Language
She stands with a gardener's patience and a sentry's balance, hands often folded in her sleeves until action is needed. When uneasy, her fingers rub a thumb-sized seed charm along its grooves. She rarely fidgets, but her gaze moves constantly over exits, windows, roots, and the weather.
