Ellis Covari
Wizard
Ellis Covari
Species
Halfling
Appearance
Ellis Covari is a compact halfling with the tidy restlessness of a page being turned too fast. His fingers are permanently stained with blue-black ink that shimmers faintly at the edges, as if every blot remembers the stars. He wears a scholar's coat cut from charcoal wool and lined with hidden parchment pockets, but the cuffs are splattered with bright copper ink in careless bursts, giving him the look of a meticulous archivist who has recently lost a battle with a fountain of color. His quill is tucked behind one ear like a weapon, and he moves with small, precise steps that suddenly become frantic when inspiration strikes. The contradiction that makes people remember him is that despite his bookish severity, he carries a battered patchwork satchel decorated with embroidered flowers and a childlike stitched fox on the flap.
“Measured and precise, with a scholar's rhythm and occasional bursts of excited chatter when discussing magic. He uses vivid metaphors from writing, bookbinding, and preservation, and his tone softens noticeably when speaking about lost things.”

Distinguishing Features
A thin crescent scar across the left thumb from a self-inflicted test of a binding rune.
Ink that occasionally moves beneath his skin like a slow constellation.
A quill-shaped silver earring inherited from his father.
One sleeve always darker than the other from repeated magical staining.
His familiar Nib changes shape slightly depending on Ellis's mood, becoming sharper when he is tense.
Voice
“Careful, warm, and quietly intense, with a tendency to accelerate when discussing his work. Even at his most agitated, he sounds like someone trying very hard not to spill ink.”
Clothing
A charcoal scholar's coat over a cream waistcoat, inkproof gloves tucked into his belt, soft brown boots with quiet soles, and a chain of brass spell-tabs across his chest. He keeps a hidden inner pocket for fresh parchment and a dried sprig of lavender to calm his nerves.
Body Language
He stands slightly forward on his toes, always ready to dart toward a desk, a page, or a source of light. His hands flick and twitch as though shaping invisible letters in the air, and he tilts his head when listening as if trying to hear a sentence hidden beneath the words.
