Artaban Rostam
Paladin
Artaban Rostam
Species
Yotunn (Half-Giant)
Appearance
Artaban Rostam is a towering Yotunn half-giant who seems carved from a cathedral column and weathered by a hundred campaigns. His bronze skin has the matte sheen of old temple bells, crisscrossed with pale ceremonial scars that look less like wounds and more like a map of vows. He moves with a cavalryman's economy, every gesture measured and heavy, yet unexpectedly gentle when he kneels to speak to the wounded. His braided black beard is threaded with thin silver rings and horsehair charms, and his amber eyes hold the steady warmth of banked coals. The contradiction that catches people off guard is his immaculate, almost fussy care for his boots and gloves, which he polishes as if maintaining them were a prayer against chaos.
“Deep, resonant, and careful, like a war drum heard through cathedral stone. He speaks with a northern cadence softened by years of liturgical training, and when he is moved he drops into old clan phrasing that sounds older than the Church itself.”

Distinguishing Features
Ceremonial scars etched across his chest and forearms in interlocking lines that resemble a map of routes and oaths.
Amber eyes that seem to brighten when he discusses duty, almost like coals stoked by wind.
A braided black beard bound with silver rings, horsehair, and tiny prayer knots.
An enormous left hand with a split knuckle from an old lance break that never healed cleanly.
A faint scent of saddle leather, incense, and winter pine clings to him even after bathing.
Voice
“A low, grave baritone with warmth hidden beneath its severity; the sound of a seasoned commander speaking to someone he intends to keep alive.”
Clothing
Layered ceremonial battle vestments over practical mail, a white and crimson surcoat embroidered with flame-and-breath iconography, reinforced gloves, polished steel boots, and a thick winter cloak lined with fur from the northern clans. He wears a simple iron signet on a leather cord beneath his armor.
Body Language
Still as an armored statue when listening, then suddenly fluid in motion, with a cavalryman's habit of turning his whole body rather than only his head. He stands very close when offering reassurance, but at a deliberate angle when assessing threat, like a shield placed to intercept a blow.
