Mira Glint
Species
Gnome
Appearance
Mira Glint is a compact gnome woman with the restless, tidied look of someone who sleeps beside her tools and wakes already apologizing to them. Her skin is warm bronze with freckles scattered across her nose and knuckles like solder flecks. Her hair is copper red, shaved close at the sides and gathered on top into a crooked knot held with a bent brass gearpin. Her bright green eyes shine with alarming alertness, especially when she is listening for sounds no one else can hear. Her hands are nimble and scarred, and both wrists carry old burn marks in pale, shiny bands, as though something once kissed them with white fire. She wears a soot-stained leather apron over layered workshirts, but the apron is embroidered with tiny silver flowers, an unexpectedly delicate touch that she insists keeps bad luck from nesting in the seams. She moves in quick little bursts, shoulders slightly hunched, like a bird darting between sparks.
“Quick, precise, and softly musical, with a habit of naming parts as if they were family members. She uses technical metaphors even for emotions, saying things like a heart needs tightening, a fear needs venting, or a promise should be oiled before it seizes.”

Distinguishing Features
Pale burn scars circling both wrists like metal bracelets
A left ear nicked by a runaway gear tooth
Tiny silver flower stitches hidden along the edge of her apron
A habit of smelling faintly of lamp oil, coal dust, and peppermint tea
A permanent smudge of grease on the side of her right cheek
Voice
“Bright, breathy, and slightly husky from coal dust, with sudden rises in volume when a theory lands in place. She sounds gentle until something mechanical is threatened, then every word becomes a hammer tap.”
Clothing
Layered soot-gray workshirts, a patched green apron with silver floral stitching, fingerless gloves with the fingertips trimmed away, brass-buttoned boots, and a tool belt that jingles like a tiny chest of drawers
Body Language
Quick, angled gestures, constant finger drumming, and a habit of leaning close to listen to humming metal. When she is worried, she folds her arms around her ribs as if protecting her wrists. When excited, she bobs on her toes and points with the smallest screwdriver she can find.
