Appearance
Mirek Vale cuts an unmistakable figure, broad-shouldered and weather-scarred, with the kind of body shaped more by barrows, boat ramps, and long roads than by battlefields. His skin is sun-browned and wind-chapped, his hands thick with knuckles and white old scuffs where rope has bitten into them for years. He moves with a deliberate, almost apologetic softness, as if trying not to disturb the air around him, yet there is something contradictory in the way his eyes keep measuring exits and angles like a veteran scout. His left sleeve is always pinned high enough to reveal a neat line of faded blue tattoos from wrist to elbow, but the rest of him is plain, practical, and nearly dull until he smiles, when a single gold tooth flashes like a coin dropped into mud.
“Low, measured, and slightly husky, with the cadence of a man used to reading aloud by lantern light and stopping himself halfway through dangerous sentences..”
