Appearance
Tova Emberlain is slim and precise, built like someone who has spent years bent over vellum and candlelight, yet she moves with the controlled stillness of a knife balanced on a fingertip. Her skin is the warm tone of sun-dried clay, marked by a faint dusting of ash across her knuckles from sealing wax and incense. Her dark auburn hair is cut blunt at the jaw and usually pinned back with a bronze clasp shaped like a reed pen, though one rebellious lock always falls over her left cheek as if it is trying to listen. Her eyes are a pale gray-green, bright and watchful, and they seem too old for her face until she smiles, which is rare and sudden. She wears layered temple robes of soot black and ember red, but the cuffs are neatly mended with scraps of fine white silk, an oddly luxurious detail that makes her seem both severe and secretly vain. When she walks, her steps are almost silent, yet her sleeves whisper like turning pages. The overall impression is of a patient scholar who could make a king sweat with a single sentence.
“Soft, exact, and low enough that people instinctively lean closer, which she uses to her advantage without ever raising her voice..”

Ink permanently stained under the nails of her right hand.

One sleeve lined with white silk, a hidden memorial to the archive fire.
A faint scent of beeswax and smoke that clings to her robes.

“Quiet, smoky, and carefully controlled, with the habit of ending sentences on soft certainty rather than emphasis.”

Temple robes in soot black and ember red, a wax-stained apron with hidden pockets, soft calf-high boots, fingerless writing gloves, and a cord of stamped brass signets around her belt.
Body Language
Still and contained, with precise hand movements, lowered chin when listening, and a habit of leaning just slightly closer than is comfortable when someone lies.
