Nadim al-Sabah
Species
River Elf
Appearance
Nadim al-Sabah is a river elf with blue skin the color of deep floodwater under moonlight, marked by necrotic burns that look like black frost spreading across his collarbones, ribs, and forearms. His hair was once ink-black but is now bone white, not silky but brittle-looking, as if each strand had been bleached by grave dust. He is tall and narrow, with a reed-thin frame that moves in sharp, irritated angles, like a man forever reaching for a tool that is not where he left it. His left hand is permanently stained with reagent burns and ink, while his right hand trembles only when he is angry or trying not to be. He dresses like a scholar who expects a workshop fire at any moment: layered gray-black robes, a leather apron full of glass loops and brass clasps, and a high collar that partly hides an old throat scar. The most unexpected thing about him is the delicacy of his face. For all his cruelty, his features are almost courtly and beautiful, with long lashes, elegant ears, and a mouth that might have been kind in another life.
“Fast, precise, and cutting, with a scholarly cadence that turns into sneering sarcasm when challenged.”

Distinguishing Features
Necrotic burn scars that crawl across his body in branching patterns like dead river reeds
Pure white hair caused by grave exposure, worn tied back with copper wire
A permanently smoke-rough voice and stained fingers from reagents and cigarettes
An old throat scar shaped like a narrow crescent
A poet's careful handwriting hidden beneath a tyrant's administrative seals
Voice
“Dry, nasal, and cutting, with the practiced authority of someone who has spent years making people afraid to interrupt him”
Clothing
Layered charcoal robes reinforced with oilskin panels, a stained leather apron, fingerless gloves, a silver-threaded sash bearing imperial seals, and multiple tool belts packed with glass ampoules, bone needles, and brass clamps
Body Language
He stands with one shoulder slightly forward as if bracing for an accusation. When thinking, he pinches the bridge of his nose and taps his thumb against the side of a vial. In anger, his movements become precise rather than wild, which makes him seem more dangerous. When he is cornered socially, he folds his hands behind his back like an instructor giving a lecture.
